Art that is tethered to the earth

Inquire

Tenaya Wickstrand is a painter whose work exists at the intersection of fine art and the natural world. Using handcrafted pigments and sustainably sourced materials, she creates emotional, narrative-driven landscape and figure paintings that are physically tethered to the earth they come from.

Studio Note

My process begins long before the brush touches canvas — pigments ground, elements gathered, always returning to the land as source and material. Each piece is shaped by where it comes from as much as by my hand, a slow collaboration between intention and place. What ends up on the canvas is less something I create than something I uncover.

available works

Each collection is released seasonally, born from time spent gathering pigments and materials from the land itself. Every original painting is made using handmade, eco-conscious pigments on raw linen or canvas — a slow, intentional process that can't be rushed or repeated.

custom commissions

I take on a limited number of custom commissions each year, working closely with each collector to create a piece rooted in the same materials and process as my studio work. Because of the time this process requires, availability is intentionally small — inquire to check current openings.

Every piece starts outdoors — walking familiar ground, foraging for the colors and textures only nature provides. What's found locally shapes the palette; what isn't is sourced from earth-derived materials around the world, always with sustainability in mind.

Step Inside the Process

Art has a way of taking us somewhere. Find the place that feels like yours.

Rooted in the textures, tones, and quiet rhythms of the natural world, each piece holds a sense of place all its own. Created to be lived with and returned to, I invite you to find the landscape that speaks to something within you.
